Stephen Bakke joined New York Life in 1974 after graduating from Central Washington University with a degree in Sociology and Psychology. After serving as an Office Manager for six years, I decided to enter sales with New York Life.  My desire was to gain more control over my destiny and to have an entrepreneurial opportunity. After 5 years in second line management in Portland OR, I took over the Greater Oregon General Office headquarters in Salem, OR.  After 12 years in Oregon I was transferred to the Fullerton General Office. I cannot imagine any other career that gives me the opportunity to make the income I want to make and still help people. I am thrilled that my career has also allowed me to give back to my community. I have served on the Board of Trustees for the Oregon Chapter of Leukemia Society and Planned Giving Council for the Oregon Health Science University. In California I am a volunteer and organizer for Comfort Zone Camp. My industry involvement is reflected in my service as past President of the General Agents and Managers Association of Oregon and the Society of Financial Services Professionals -Willamette Chapter and member of the Willamette Estate Planning Council.  Now in California, I am a member of the North Orange Chapter of the National Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors.
